On Saturday 16 March, Hike Land invites you to head for the Mafra area and follow the paths of history and tradition of this blessed region. On a route that will take us from the José Franco Museum Village, a hymn to the customs and traditions of the Saloia region, to the fantastic landscapes of the Cuco River, a valley full of surprises and enchanting places.

TRAIL
Our walk begins with a visit to the fantastic José Franco Museum Village. In the mid-1950s, potter José Franco, with the support of his wife Helena, set his sights on recreating an ethnographic village, representing his childhood memories in honour of his land. After the visit, we'll start our walk, heading towards the River Cuco, a route full of green landscapes, woods and farms, which used to use the water from this watercourse for irrigation. We continue on towards the town of Caeiros, situated at a higher point and offering fantastic panoramic views of the whole of the Saloia region, including the Convent of Mafra and the Serra de Sintra. Returning to our starting point, we'll follow the Serra do Carrascal towards the Vidigueira stream, travelling through tunnels of lush green vegetation, an experience of unique charm.
