The Municipal Assembly, on a proposal from the City Council and after a period of public discussion, decided to amend the Traffic Regulations of the Municipality of Mafra, with the main objectives of regulating the use and increasing the rotation of parking spaces in the urban centre of the town of Ericeira, benefiting residents, facilitating access to establishments and, above all, guaranteeing the essential circulation of emergency and rescue vehicles. The new measures will come into force in the 2nd half of 2024.

 

Given the demographic growth and the increase in tourism and economic activities, there have been fewer and fewer free car parking spaces, especially in the area around the city. area to the west of ER 247, in Ericeira. This situation is aggravated by the fact that the majority of vehicles are parked for long periods of time, sometimes for consecutive days, which does not allow for rotation in the use of spaces, as well as by situations of improper and abusive parking, which jeopardise the circulation of people and vehicles.
